Jamie Carlyle - Structural Packaging Designer
By presenting a package that is innovative through form and functionality, you are able to captivate an audience that more often than not sees packaging as merely a wrapper to be torn and instantly discarded.
My name is Jamie and I am a structural packaging designer based in Hertfordshire, England. Originally from Edinburgh, I studied Product Design at the University of Dundee where I achieved a First Class Honours degree.
On completion of my degree, I moved south of the border to apply my knowledge into the packaging industry. Having trained for nine months as a Junior CAD Designer, in August 2022 I was promoted to the position of Cartonboard Engineer.
I believe that the means of delivering a product can be as important as the product itself. By presenting a package that is innovative through form and functionality, you are able to captivate an audience that more often than not sees packaging as merely a wrapper to be torn and instantly discarded.
Experience-focused design forms the core of my creative principles. Where suitable, I aim to challenge how people interact with packaging and how this can be influenced and innovated.
